Triesse LTD
Veneer Layup & Press Line for Hardwood Plywood Panels

Founded over 40 years ago, Triesse is one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of veneered and laminated boards. With two strategically located manufacturing depots in England, Triesse is a specialist laminator of veneered panels with the capacity to obtain any species in any cut.

The client was immersed in an expansion programme that included increasing the size of the facilities they operated from. So, the whole factory undergone a full refurbishment.
Triesse’s objective was to acquire a new press line to improve their production capacity and enable to broaden its offer range and widen its client base.

This project was held in 2020. Biele Group developed a complete turn-key veneer lay-up and press line for particleboard panels.
This automated line consisted of an automatic feeding, cleaning and gluing section, a partially automated lay-up section (the client wanted to keep manual inspection as part of their unique selling proposition), a press unit, a trimming station inside a sound-deadening enclosure and a final automatic stacking system.

This new lay-up, press and trimming line enabled Triesse to broaden its product offer range, making possible to respond special sized panel orders, and raising its production capacity by 450%. These results allowed Triesse to reach new kind of customers, and consequently had an immediate impact on their business.
Production Capacity Increase
The production capacity raised by 450%. Although, the original idea was to increase production capacity to 1600 boards/day, the new press line enabled Triesse to turn from 800 boards a day to 3600 boards a day.
Customization and Flexibility
According to John Nield’s words, “Everything was built for us. The press is unique to us, and the trimming station is also unique to us. The flexibility reached with Biele press line, allows us to work in small batches and to produce a wide range of different-sized panels“.
Immediate Business Growth
Triesse had a growth plan for several years that doubled the business over three years, but they already achieved it in 18 months thanks to the new press line.
According to John Nield’s words, “Biele’s engineering standards were fabulous and the way they put the package together and the organisation was fabulous. We had a UK agent giving good support and it was easy to see the long term with them”.
“We build our relationships with suppliers on trust, and from minute one, Biele was very impressive. The way they handle you, the way everything is communicated, the way they take you from an idea to a finalised design, it’s all very professional. We had some challenges on the installation, but we got there. They’ve delivered what they said they would deliver”.
